Will volunteering impact my benefits or income tax?Volunteering does not in impact your personal benefits or income tax. Where a volunteer may recieve benefits, we always advise our volunteers to be open with any organisation from whom you receive benefits to ensure that they know that you are volunteering with us.

What support will I receive as a volunteer?Make More values its volunteers and provides ongoing support throughout their volunteer experience. You will have access to a volunteer coordinator or point of contact for guidance, as well as resources and materials relevant to your role. The types of training on offer to our volunteers include: Safeguarding Confidence Training Mental Health First Aid Counselling Skills for Healthcare Professionals Digital and Tech Training Our training opportunities may change as the world around us changes, but we always ensure that our volunteers are well equipped to best support the communities around us.

Can I volunteer remotely or do I need to be local to participate?Make More offers both local and remote volunteering opportunities. Some roles may require in-person participation, such as event support, while others can be done remotely, such as virtual mentoring or administrative tasks.

Will I receive training for my volunteer role?Yes, Make More provides training and orientation sessions for all volunteers to ensure they feel prepared and confident in their roles. Training may cover topics such as the organisation's mission, policies, and specific tasks related to the volunteer role. As an example some of the types of training that we offer our volunteers include: Safeguarding Training Confidence Training Mental Health First Aid Training Counselling Skills for Healthcare Professionals Training Digital and Tech Training As well as the above, our onboarding process has been designed to ensure that you are equipped with all the necessary tools to volunteer and make a significant difference to those around you.

Is there a minimum time commitment required for volunteering?Generally, there is no minimum time commitment for volunteering with us, we're just grateful that you'd spend some of your time to support communities through Make More. Some of our projects may operate for a certain time period so its always helpful if we can keep some familiar faces in place so that our community beneficiaries can continue to build on the relationship they have developed. We do recognise that this isn't always possible so we work with all volunteers to find a schedule that fits their availability.

What opportunities are available for volunteering with Make More?Make More offers various volunteering opportunities, including assisting with STEM and digital events, some of our digital and community support intiatives, administrative tasks. Specific opportunities may vary based on current needs and projects. We will work with you to identify what your interests and strengths are so that we can find you the best role or opportunity to suit everyone's needs.

How can I apply to volunteer with Make More?To apply, visit our website and fill out the volunteer application form. It takes a few minutes to complete. Once you have completed this, then our team will reach out to you to arrange the next steps which depending on your location of residence, may be a face to face or an online/ remote call.

Do I require a background check>?As we work with many vulnerable people including young people and vulnerable adults, you may need to have a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check completed to ensure the highest of safety measures are taken for everyone's benefit. This is a chargeable service but worry not!... we will pay for this on your behalf! Depending on the project or community initiative, you may require one of the following: 1. Standard DBS - a standard check, which shows spent and unspent convictions and cautions 2. Enhanced DBS - an enhanced check, which shows the same as a standard check plus any information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role Don't worry, as we said, we'll take care of this and cover the cost where they are necessary.

Where is the office located?Our office/centre is located in Walsall Town Centre, within the Townend House Building on Park Street. We are 4-5 minute walk away from the local transport links including the large Walsall Bus Station and Walsall's train station. You need to press 33# on the door buzzer, and once we have provided access, you can find us on the third floor of the building.

Digital assistance services aimed at helping individuals navigate the process of appealing benefit decisions, ensuring they receive the support they deserve. Windrush Claim Support, providing guidance and advocacy to those affected by the Windrush scandal, helping them access their rights and obtain the support they need. Health and fitness programs tailored for both men and women, promoting overall wellness and empowering individuals to lead healthier lifestyles through various activities and resources. Technology device training sessions aimed at enhancing digital literacy skills, empowering community members to confidently use technology devices and navigate the digital world effectively. We offer these programs and more which are all designed to address diverse needs within our community and provide valuable support, education, and resources to help individuals thrive.
